*BENDIGO AND ADELAIDE BANK* An Australian bank reimagines customer support with creative, cloud-based collaboration behind the scenes—and help from Contino, a Cognizant Company, and AWS.
The bank’s engineers worked with Contino to successfully move more than 30 workloads onto Amazon Web Services (AWS) in 30 days. In addition to cost reduction and performance improvements, the migration better positioned the bank to meet aggressive timelines for compliance requirements.
Contino’s dual delivery of cloud migration and team training uplifted the bank’s overall operational performance, enhanced engineers’ technical skills, and fostered a supportive learning environment that can contribute to long-term growth and improvement.
To support continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), Contino worked alongside the bank’s teams to provide initial technical leadership and lay a strong technical foundation based on DevOps culture.
Serving almost two million customers across Australia, Bendigo and Adelaide Bank wanted to help even more people prosper. So it invested in advancing its own development capabilities, including adoption and support of a continuous delivery model for its engineers with a goal to support customers better.
The bank engaged AWS Partner Contino, a Cognizant Company, to help it adopt a cloud-first strategy and train the bank’s own teams so they could deliver and maintain enterprise-scale, secure, cloud platforms that improve the reliability and performance of the bank’s systems.
Contino focused on nurturing a DevOps culture and upskilling to uplift the bank engineers’ cloud capabilities and technical skills in an open and supportive environment. Despite teams working remotely, Contino enlivened employee engagement using innovative ideas, including something it calls “virtual office,” a continuous video conference where colleagues can chat or work independently as a DJ plays music. And at weekly gatherings known as “The Friday Sessions,” teams offered best practices and training opportunities that eventually attracted an average of 100 staff members per session. These initiatives helped teams build innovative cloud capabilities that the bank can use to deliver further value to customers, in line with the vision to be Australia’s bank of choice.
Contino invested in making learning more fun for the bank’s engineers because such collaborative environments are where innovation and digital transformation can rapidly grow.
